In March 2011 the Baildon at Christmas committee made the difficult decision to hand over the reins and we informed Baildon Parish Council of our decision.

This was due to many reasons including existing work commitments & the imminent arrival of a baby, it certainly wasn’t a decision we took lightly.  We put an awful lot into last years event and the thought of not being  involved was quite hard to come to terms with but we knew that the time required simply wasn’t available & we’re certainly not the type of people to do a half arsed job.   We approached a few local groups and then discovered the very organised & creative ladies at the Baildon Club had stepped up to the mark.

The ladies are well under way planning a wonderful festive event for our village, however in their wisdom the Parish Council have decreed that there will be no event this year as apparently we have left them in the lurch.  I truly hope the Baildon Club continue with their event, Baildon is a fantastic village, which has a great sense of community due largely to the number of community events being held.

If we learnt anything from last year it’s this, it doesn’t matter how many hours you put into organising an event, how many sleepless nights or how many times you run around the village like something possessed, you need the locals to raise their hands & say ‘I’ll help make Baildon great’

This sappiness is very unlike me however I feel the powers that be are trying to take away something that doesn’t belong to them, it belongs to the village. So pop into the Baildon club or drop us a line and lets save Christmas
